Go Fast Jeep

I originally started this project as a go-fast dune jeep, but last summer Tim Young saw it in the barn and fell in love with it. I moved the engine forward to make it more suited for rock crawling and added shock hoops for 14 inch coil overs. I dropped it off at his house in Mesa last week.I can't wait to see what he does with it.

'55 Studebaker

In 9th grade I would ride my bike to my uncle's shop and help work on hot rods. Originally my uncle bought this truck for $500, then my brother bought it from him and rodded it out. I bought it from my brother, this was my official first car.
I put a bigger cam and a tunnel ram on it. I tubbed the rear and added ladder bars. Then I put fats (15 in. wide) in the back and skinnies (3.5 in. wide) in the front. It had a 327 Chevy small block and a turbo 350 transmission with a 3500 stall. Narrowed 9 in. rear with 488:1 gears.
I used to go to Firebird Raceway almost every weekend doing the Friday night drags. The best time I had was 12.9 seconds in the 1/4 mile. On Saturday nights we would do street drags the old fashioned way. We'd choose a different location each week, this helped us dodge the POlice. Sometimes we'd go looking for 5.0L Mustangs because they thought they were fast. We called it giving them their medicine! I used to get pulled over all the time, even when I was going the speed limit. One cop told me it just "sounded" like I was going fast. Another time the cop just wanted to look at it. I ended up going to traffic survival school only once.
I sold it when I got married, but my '55 Studebaker will always have a special place in my heart! I now have a '46 flatbed Studebaker sitting in my backyard. Someday..............

Top Secret Skunk Works Suspension

Here are some shots of the rear torque arm on AR-MOG-GEDDON. There will be some more trussing added before it's all done, but you get the picture. The torque arm is six feet long, and attaches below the shifter. One goal with this setup is to keep the instant center from moving around while the suspension articulates.
